The best essay on poetry I have ever read
Some essays change the way we see poetry.
This week I wanted to include one of the most influential essays I have ever read. Nuar Alsadir is a poet, writer, and psychoanalyst. She is the author of the poetry collections Fourth Person Singular (2017), shortlisted for the 2017 Forward Prize for Best Collection in England and Ireland; and More Shadow Than Bird (Salt Publishing, 2012). Her poems and essays have appeared in numerous publications.
I can honestly say that this essay really solidified so much of what I believed about poetry. I’m so thankful for it. Have a read.
There’s no exercise today. Only the suggestion that you should ruminate on some of the thoughts in that essay.
Enjoy!
